There’s just something about a spread of glistening, white, pure untouched snow. That’s why many calendars have the December or January picture of a meadow or field covered with fresh fallen snow. It’s fitting not only for that time of year but for its beauty.

Set before each and every one of us is a 365 day long field of gorgeous un-walked snow.

January 2012 –  a new year – a new beginning—a fresh opportunity equal for us all.

A year yet unlived, a gift yet unwrapped.

If we don’t like, or want the now fully opened gift of 2011, we don’t, for the most part have to drag it with us into 2012. (There are some situations that must come with us – but we can at least decide to change our attitude about them).

We can change the outcome of 2012 – one step – one day at time. It has been said, (more or less) that someone who keeps on doing the same thing over and over expecting different results is crazy.

We want different results in our life- let’s do something different about it.  It all begins with us. And the good news is that we don’t have to go it alone. The Lord of the universe and time is waiting for us to ask for His wisdom and help as we prepare for a new year.  When Jesus left He said that it was good that He was leaving for then He’d send the Holy Spirit the Helper to be with us.

He created us, He has a good plan for our life, He knows what’s ahead that we don’t see, the good and the bad. He and He alone is able to give us wisdom and strength for each new day.  He’s our inward daily GPS. As we decide prayerfully with Him what our destinations are –He will lay out the map for us. If we get stuck, He’ll plan a detour for us. He’ll have us avoid the dead ends, wrong destination, etc.  If we need a break along the way, He knows the best rest stops and eating places. He knows our limitations, and wants us to enjoy the journey too.

So let’s make our 2012 plans and goals with Him, and know that He’ll be with us each step of the journey ; and He will make any necessary readjustments along the way.  It’s then we can know when we will look back over 2012 we will be pleased for we travelled under the shadow of His loving wings
